Weeks Forest offers two short interconnected routes on conservation land just outside Stratford. The trailhead kiosk and parking area provide access to a wide, gently rolling woods road marked with yellow blazes. This Lower Loop winds through a mixed forest with occasional muddy patches after rainfall. At a marked junction, hikers can continue on the shorter loop or branch uphill onto the Upper Loop, a blue-blazed singletrack that adds a moderate climb and more varied terrain before rejoining the main path.
The trail system passes through recovering timber stands, vernal pools, and habitat frequented by deer, fisher, and other wildlife. Snowshoers and cross-country skiers often visit in winter, when animal tracks are easy to spot along the old logging roads. With its easy navigation and quiet setting, Weeks Forest is a good choice for a relaxed outing in New Hampshire’s North Country.
