Cohos Trail (Deadwater Section)

Grab your goggles and facemask, because you'll be eating everyone's dust on this section of the Cohos Trail. This starts from the entrance way to Coleman State Park and runs southward along Diamond Pond Road. It turns right onto Heath Road and follows it to Bear Rock Road. Stay straight onto Bear Rock Road and follow this for a while. Opposite the small ponds, there's a small piped spring (on the right). The trail turns right onto McAllister Road, where you'll get a small reprieve from constantly dodging ATV's. McAllister Road is the only part of this entire section where ATV's aren't permitted. Looking southward, you can catch some excellent views. Shortly after passing by Mudget Mountain Road, the trail follows Haynes/Creampoke Road. Stay right along the road, signed as Snack Shack Trail. As you descend from the Snack Shack, the trail becomes the Deadwater Trail. The trail is very narrow here and there's limited visibility; please keep a heightened sense of situational awareness. Hopefully, the developers of the Cohos Trail will create a re-route off this dangerous section, but, for now, this is the route. The Deadwater Trail ends when it reaches a kiosk for the Connecticut Lakes Section of the Cohos Trail. The trail turns left onto Deadwater Loop Road and runs to Cedar Stream Road. This section of the Cohos Trail ends here, at Cedar Stream Road.
