Description
The Cama Beach State Park Loop Trails give visitors a chance to explore the mature forests surrounding the historical fishing resort. Most of the paths are level and short, allowing a relaxed pace for taking in the delightful scenery. Trails can also be linked together to create extended day hikes to more remote areas of the park. There are trailheads on either side of the welcome center parking lot, so this is a good place to begin your outing. Consult a map before choosing to head north on the Bluff Trail or south along the Old Entrance Trail. Both paths meet up again in less than a half mile near a restroom building and a shuttle drop-off shelter. From here, follow the well-marked Beach Trail down to the dozens of shoreside cabins, or go north to meet up with the 1-mile Marine View Loop Trail. The latter twists through stands of thick fir, pausing at three interpretive platforms to yield sneak peeks out to the Puget Sound, Whidbey Island, and the Olympic Mountains beyond. After hooking back south toward the parking lot, you will meet a junction for a connector path to the Cross-Island Trail. Take this if you'd like to add a few more more miles and see more of the eastern side of the park.
