The Double Run Nature Trail starts at a small parking area along PA‑154, directly across from the park chapel in Worlds End State Park. From the trailhead, the route follows green blazes into a cool, shaded forest along the west branch of Double Run Creek. Hikers will pass several waterfalls and small cascades, with Cottonwood Falls standing out as the primary named feature. Midway through, the route briefly overlaps with both the Loyalsock and Link Trails before looping back toward the trailhead. Several wooden footbridges and stretches of natural stone steps help navigate short, rocky climbs. These steeper sections can be slippery after rain or in winter, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
The route begins and ends at the same point along PA‑154 and can be extended by connecting with nearby trails in the park’s network. Expect a peaceful walk beneath mature hemlocks and hardwoods, with creekside views and flowing water throughout. This family-friendly hike highlights some of the best waterfall terrain in Sullivan County.
