Old Mount Emma

The hike up to Old Mount Emma is a short, 2.7-mile out-and-back journey, offering a challenging yet rewarding adventure in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California. Starting from Mount Emma Road, this hike follows a firebreak/fire road leading up to Old Mount Emma and back. While the distance may seem short, the steepness of the trail more than makes up for it in difficulty. Prepare for loose, rocky terrain, steep climbs, and descents. You will be rewarded with a scenic summit, opportunities for solitude, and the ability to check off a Sierra Club Hundred Peaks peak from the list!Despite its relatively short distance, the hike up to Old Mount Emma is considered strenuous due to its steep ascent.
