Pacifico Mountain Loop

Pacifico Mountain Loop is a 12-mile loop in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument within Angeles National Forest. Starting at Mill Creek Ranger Station, off Angeles Crest Highway (CA-2), the route follows the well-maintained Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and Pacifico Mountain Road (3N17), a remote dirt road. The trail traverses through beautiful High Desert terrain with panoramic views and colorful wildflowers in spring. This moderately challenging trek is accessible for runners, hikers, and backpackers. Pacifico Mountain (7124') is a prominent peak in the northwestern region of the San Gabriel Mountains. There is a great view of the San Gabriel Mountain range and Mojave Desert from the top, and on a clear day you may even be able to see some of the high peaks in Death Valley National Park. DIRECTIONSTake the PCT southbound for about 5.4 miles to a saddle and trail junction. From the saddle, follow a dirt road up to the summit. Complete a small loop around the campground and descend back to the parking area via Pacifico Mountain Road (3N17).SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS There is no water on the trail, be sure to bring and carry all that you need.March - May are the busiest times of year for this hike due to the influx of northbound PCT hikers. The trail is accessible year-round, but some parts may get snow in the winter. There is a campground on the rocky summit, which can be accessed by foot or vehicle.
