Description
Trail #44 follows a broad ridgeline on the Idaho - Montana border through meadows and forest. This trail runs through some of the wildest non-wilderness country in the lower 48. This is Grizzly bear and Wolf country! Be prepared to deal with either! Bear spray highly recommended! The trail is usually accessed using Ruby Ridge Trail #35 from Canuck Pass, then travelled south. The trails very well maintained from the Canuck Pass area to Keno Pass. South of Keno Pass, the trail gets more primitive, with sections of steep climbing nice hiking along ridgetops. The climb to the top of Line Point is brutally steep, so be prepared! The descent off of Line Point goes for mile after mile descending through various forest types.
