Description
Marshan Lake Trail is an easy and flat hike located in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve near Lino Lakes, Minnesota. This out and back trail is completely paved, and it has multiple benches along the way. This hike is 3.5 miles long and gains only 62 feet of elevation.This hike begins at the trailhead on Village Dr. This trailhead is in a residential area, and only has room for a few cars. There is also a trail map at this trailhead. Start hiking south on the paved trail. Shortly after you begin, you will pass by a playground. Then you will walk amongst oak, aspen, and birch trees. After 0.2 miles, you will reach a junction. Take a left here. There will be another junction 0.1 miles down the trail. Go left again.Continue hiking through deciduous trees for 0.3 miles before coming to a prairie. This prairie is being restored by Anoka County Parks. It is possible to see birds and wildflowers. You are now hiking near the eastern shore of Marshan Lake, but foliage can block most of the view.After you have traveled another 0.8 miles, you will cross over Rice Creek as it flows into Marshan Lake. You are now 0.4 miles from a trail head on Aqua Lane. Turn around here, and retrace your steps to return to the trailhead.The Marshan Lake Trail is not open for hiking in the winter. There are no associated fees when starting the hike from Village Dr. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. This trail is also shared with bikers. The Marshan Lake Trail is great for hikers who want an easy way to enjoy nature in Lino Lakes, Minnesota.
