Bird Rookery Trail

This is a great nature hike to give you a chance to see many of the denizens of a Florida swamp. There is a lot to learn here. This is a flat trail that is elevated a few feet above the surrounding swamp. You'll see a potpourri of wildlife including deer, gators, insects, and birds. All the kinds of things you would expect to find in a swamp. Sunscreen and insect repellent are mandatory. I found it comforting to hold a stout stick in case an alligator lunged at me. I don't know if it would have done anything, but it did make me feel better.
