Description
This is a doubletrack trail which is overgrown in some places. Some of the trail markers are falling over. It provides more shade than the nearby Picayune Strand hike, but there can be a lot of exposure. The trail apparently floods part of the year. There are educational plaques strewn throughout the trail explaining the microenvironments and its agricultural history. There are plenty of birds and animals to gawk at.
History & Background
They used to grown melons there.
