Access Issues
Detour around low-elevation crossings when water is flowing as you can be swept into deep water. All of the White Oak Bayou channel and bank from FM-1960 to Hollister is subject to closure through at least July 2024. Scope of new trail has not been determined; previous expectation was trail from Jones Rd. to Hollister. An advisory was posted at https://www.hcfcd.org/Activity/Active-Projects/White-Oak-Bayou/C-14-Federal-Flood-Damage-Reduction-Project in June 2023, but HCFCD links often change.

Description
This is the eastern portion of a planned continuous trail from the Ranchstone Detention Basin at Jones Road to the White Oak Bayou Greenway at Hollister. The trail currently begins at the West Belt Basin Loop. The trail passes under North Gessner Road and continues along the right bank of White Oak Bayou to an underpass of Windfern Road and then an underpass of Fairbanks North Houston Road. The trail crosses the Fairbanks South detention basin low-water weir which can be avoided when water is present by using the Fairbanks South Loop as a detour. Access to the north side of the bayou is possible at the Woodland W Bridge. At the Hollister detention basin there is also a low-water crossing that can be avoided when water is high by detouring on the Hollister Basin Loop. Construction is underway along the Jersey Village Diversion channel north of the West Belt Basin Loop which will eventually extend the trail to the Ranchstone Detention Basin at Jones Road.
