Description
This trail is located near the chalets and can be entered from the park road or from directly behind the last chalet. The trail connects with the Loop Trail below the chalets and passes the old still site, crossing the park road leading to the lodge. There is also a parking lot at the bottom of the trail where access is also available for the Kings Chapel Trail and the Waterfall Branch Trail, as well as a connector to the Cascade Trail, Taylor Mountain Trail, and Terrell Trail. The Moonshine Trail starts at the lower parking area with a partially washed-out ascent than seems to go on forever. Once you get past that, it is mostly rolling singletrack with a few rougher spots to keep things interesting. Just before crossing Lodge Drive, it intersects with the Butler Pass Trail at one of the most scenic trail intersections in the park.
