Description
This is a gradual climb up the west flank of Green Mountain on Smoke Rise Trail in the Blevins Gap Preserve, and a fun bomb of a downhill returning to the trailhead via Sugar Tree Trail. Sugar Tree is pretty rocky in places, as is the top of Smoke Rise Trail rise before you pick up Lowery Trail to continue the ascent to the top. Smoke Rise Trail can get a little muddy if it has rained recently. Once you've gone up and had a stretch at the Namaste bench on Bill and Marion Certain Trail, start your descent and watch for the old cars on Sugar Tree Trail! The myth is that they were deposited here by a tornado decades ago.
