Loop
The Bald Mountain Hill Loop begins just past the rotary on the north side of the entrance road after entering Quabbin Park through the middle gate off Route 9 in Ware. A small dirt pull-off on the left side of the road offers limited parking near the trailhead. The route starts behind a gate and follows a grassy forest road before transitioning to a narrower footpath through hardwood forest. It climbs gently to a rock outcrop with a partial vista—mature oaks partly block the view, but the surrounding forest landscape is still visible.
From the overlook, the trail descends and loops through a section marked by a yellow arrow. Along the way, hikers pass glacial erratics, scattered quartz fragments, and sections of mossy forest floor. The trail also crosses an old stone wall before returning to the paved park road. Though short and easy, this route offers a look at central Massachusetts forest ecology and glacial history. No water is available along the trail, and dogs are not permitted anywhere in Quabbin Park.
