Paw Paw Trail

5.0 (1 Rating)
The easiest way to the top of the ridge but it's still no cake walk. Heading back down, it can feel steep!

Description
The Paw Paw Trail connects from the lower end of the Kinderhook Short Loop near the Dana's Run Trailhead to the top of the ridge. Going up, the trail is steep but manageable in most areas. The trail has a packed gravel base that makes the climbing a little easier and less technical. As you near the top, it gets steeper. Including the approach from the parking area, it's nearly 500 vertical feet to the top, making this one of the largest climbs/descents in the area. At the top of the ridge, you'll connect with the Campfire Trail. Follow the Campfire Trail to connect with the Council Trail (a short loop trail) or to descend either side of the Kinderhook Short Loop back to the Kinderhook Trailhead. The Paw Paw Trail is more fun going down than up but is still the easiest way to the top of the ridge from the Kinderhook Trailhead on Dana's Run. Enjoy!
