Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail System

The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail System runs along the Willamette River from downtown Springfield to the northern edge of Eugene. Ruth Bascom was mayor of Eugene from 1993 to 1996 and was a champion for the development of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure as a way to increase livability and preserve the environment. The trail system is accessible from many neighborhoods and provides a plethora of urban outdoor adventures. The Delta Ponds are great for bird watching. Alton Baker Park has picnic shelters, a canoe canal, a BMX track, and Cuthbert Amphitheater, Eugene's premiere outdoor music venue. The Owens Rose Garden is a bright canvas of color when its many varieties of roses are in bloom. Skinner's Butte Park has views of the Three Sisters and downtown Eugene, hiking trails, and climbing on the basalt columns on its western side. There are also a number of easily accessible spots to go swimming or wading in the Willamette along the route. Whether you're biking, running, walking, skateboarding, or roller skating, the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail System offers access to miles of gorgeous riverfront natural areas and parks, all without leaving town.
