Description
The Stickney Trail System begins at a small parking area at the end of Lakeside Drive in Atkinson, just steps from Big Island Pond. From here, a white-blazed loop makes a full circuit through the hilly, forested parcel, with short blue-blazed trails branching off to provide alternate paths or access points from nearby neighborhoods and Route 111. The trail network covers relatively low elevation but includes short, moderate climbs over rocky terrain and through shaded hardwood forest. Several spots along the route offer filtered views of the pond, and a canoe and kayak access point can be reached from the southern end of the system. Mountain bikes are allowed throughout the trail network, and while not highly technical, the rocky, rolling terrain can add some challenge. This is a short but varied route ideal for casual hiking, trail walking, or local bike rides, with enough terrain interest to keep things engaging.
