Songer Butte Trail

Starting at the Greensprings Spur Road parking lot (which has a restroom), the trail begins uphill from behind the restroom. It's about 1.3 miles to the top of small butte. You can continue on past the butte another 1.5 to Songer Wayside (which also has a restroom). There is no official signage and the trail can be indistinct at times. As of early 2020, the most distinct (used) trail has been completely cleared of brush and poison oak. Its route on the east side of the butte is presently marked with plastic flags to keep you away from intruding on private property. You can loop back to the Greensprings Spur parking lot from the Songer Wayside without having to walk along Highway 66. From the wayside, cross Highway 66 and look for an old road blocked by a gate (you can see it from the wayside). Follow this old road (an abandoned section of Highway 66) for a short distance to where it returns to Highway 66. Cross the highway and follow Old Greensprings Highway road back to the parking lot.
