Description
The parking lot for the Star Walk Trail is located along the main road on the right on the way to the marina and park office. The trail is straight ahead and you can either hike to the left or the right as the signs are in no particular order. Going to the right, the trail follows the road briefly before breaking to the left and following the tree line for a while. Throughout this area, there are several trails cut through the fields for you to explore, but aren't part of the official trail. Following the gravel trail downhill, the trail crosses a small wooden bridge/boardwalk over a marshy area before the trail breaks to the left and follows Harrison Bay Road for a short distance. The trail passes several information signs that provide info on why the sky turns red at night, or info on the stars above you if you are hiking at night. The trail makes an S-turn through this area before following the main park road before arriving back at the parking lot. This is a short trail, but good for exploring with kids as it explains what is happening in the skies above you.
