Point to Point
Starting from the south end off Around the Lake Trail, the trail runs for a short distance and turns right. The trail runs down a small slope to the edges of the lower bog. This is a nice quiet area to watch and listen to the birds. From here, the Esker Trail turns left, and the Pitch Pine Trail continues to the right.
After a short jaunt, the Pitch Pine Trail makes a right turn (uphill) and the Black Spruce Trail heads straight and to the left toward the upper bog. The Esker Trail (labeled as "Ecker Trail" on one sign) and the Black Spruce Trail are entirely within the Black Spruce Bogs Natural Area boundary.
At the north end of the trail, shortly before it turns right, the trail passes through a stand of Pitch Pines that have been designated as a National Natural Landmark. The trail ends at its north end with the Around the Lake Trail. This trail is in both White Lake State Park and the Black Spruce Bogs Natural Area.
