Description
The Original singletrack remains at Washburn. Challenging hills will test your cardio, and roots and rocks abound. If you're looking for old school trail, this is it. The Original is best followed in a clockwise direction leaving from the Perch Lake Shelter or Washburn Lake Road parking lot. The Original includes several sections of trails known by the locals as the Hole Schotz and Jozway. These are not individual trails, just sections of The Original trail that have local reputations and are named after the trail builders. And there are also two side trails named Stone Soup and the Do-Over Loop. The Hole Schotz section begins with a fast technical downhill ending at a bridge across a small pond. An intense climb then takes you to The Jozway and another flowy downhill. Machine-built trail then begins near Stone Soup and continues intermittently until the intersection with Kathy's Loop. Connect with Kathy's Loop, Ridge, or Lake Trails to take you back to the Perch Lake Shelter.
