Rosewood Nature Study Trail

The Rosewood Nature Study Trail is a 1.8 mile loop path that begins and ends at the Nature Center building. The park is actively rehabilitating land and making accessible the land of a former golf course.Having taken over the 220 acre grounds in 2020, the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is actively converting the old grounds and buildings into an educational area with a healthy wetlands ecosystem. The trail itself follows an accessible gravel course that skirts the perimeter of the grounds, passing by wetlands, sloughs and Steamboat Creek, as well as several shaded benches where it's possible to take a seat and watch some of the birds in the area.Along the trail, interpretive signage has been added the correspons to a map available inside the visitors' center, describing features and elements such as floating gardens, pollinator houses and areas of invasive species removal.The area is bisected by Veterans Parkway, so you won't escape the hum of traffic or views of the urban area surrounding the park, however those looking for a peaceful and easy stroll through an area that is transitioning over time to better reflect its native natural state will find this trail worthwhile.The park and trails are open Monday-Saturday from 8am to 4pm, closed Sunday. The visitor center Is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9am to 4pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Dogs and bicycles are not permitted in the Nature Study Area.Up to date information can be found here.
