Path Type
There and Back
Park at the end of the Old Wawbeek Rd near the gate. Hike around the gate and just past a camp the trailhead will be on the left. Easy hiking until you reach the beaver pond on the left where there will always be some mud. Easy uphill then down and you'll see some water ahead. This is not Deer Pond but a side pond that feeds into the larger pond. Go downhill a bit to and you see a herd path to the left and right. To the right is that feeder pond that got of glimpse of through the tree on the way down. To the left is a short jaunt to the south end of Deer Pond where there is usually a boat. Stay straight to the trail junction. Go right to continue on the Deer Pond Trail to NY Route 30. Turn left and go to the high rocks on the east side of Deer Pond or continue on for 2 miles to Lead Pond (maybe swampy on the north end of Deer Pond).
