Loop
Hiking at Red Mountain Park can be an infinitely variable choose-your-own adventure. This loop is just one way you can explore the area. At just over eight miles in length and some small ups and downs along the way, it is never too strenuous, but it will get a good day of hiking under your belt. Starting from the trailhead at the corner of Frankfurt Drive and Lyon Lane (parking los located at the very end of the street at the end of the cul-de-sac or you can parallel park along the road), hop onto the Eureka Mines Trail to start your hike. Stop off at the Welcome Center for a little bit more information on the park if its your first visit. From the Eureka Mines Trail, you'll take a left on the L&N Trail which serves as a short connector to BMRR South Trail. This trail is a mellow hike through the woods until you reach the western edge of the park. Here, turn onto the #10 Mine Trail and then immediately onto the Wenonah Connector. If you are here for the history, take a side trip to #10 Mine. From the Wenonah Connector, you'll climb briskly and briefly up to the BMRR North Trail. This trail roughly parallel Wenonah Road on the northern end of the park. Stay left at the junctions with the Spring Gap Trail to stay on the BMRR North Trail. Eventually, after some hiking through the woods, you'll turn right onto the TCI Connector Trail and connect to the Ishkooda Trail. The Ishkooda Trail heads northeast, taking you out to the views of Grace's Gap Overlook. Once you are done enjoying the scenic views overlooking the city, retrace your steps to turn onto the Ike Maston Trail and then connect back to the BMRR South Trail to complete your loop. You may want to use the Mobile App in your exploration of the park as there are a few trail junctions where you might want a little guidance to make sure you are on the right track.
