There and Back
Though pleasant in its own right, this section of the AT is ideal for gear evaluation in order to prepare hikers for upcoming extended trips along the Appalachian Trail (AT) or similar long distance trails. The terrain offers a variety of terrain, from easy to difficult sections within short lengths so that a hiker can assess if the gear that they're planning to take on the AT is suitable for a longer outing. The trail also has sections where open areas are available for pauses, adjustments, or stopping to take in vistas.
