Gray Peak

This route begins and ends at the Adirondak Loj trailhead after reaching the summit of Gray Peak. Start at the Adirondak Loj trailhead and follow the blue-blazed Van Hoevenberg Trail south. At 1.0 mile, reach an intersection with the Algonquin Trail - turn right to remain on the Van Hoevenberg Trail. At 2.3 miles, reach Marcy Dam, cross Marcy Brook, and turn right onto the yellow-blazed Avalanche Pass Trail at 2.4 miles. At 3.4 miles, turn left onto the red-blazed Lake Arnold Trail and climb steadily past Lake Arnold to the pass at 5.1 miles. Descend the rugged, often flooded trail to the junction with the yellow-blazed Feldspar Brook Trail at 6.3 miles. Turn left onto the Feldspar Brook Trail, climbing to the outlet of Lake Tear of the Clouds at 7.4 miles. Locate the unmaintained, unmarked herd path on the left. Navigate the steep, muddy path for 0.4 miles through dense boreal forest to the summit of Gray Peak at 7.8 miles. Retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
