Trail Overview

PC 12 is a 4-mile-long, winding route making a loop off of trail PC 14. The first half starts with a gradual descent from the west entrance, featuring a wide, gravelly path with minor loose rock and embedded rock. This section is flat and easy, passing under the powerlines. After leaving the powerlines, the route becomes less graded. After about a mile, at the intersection with 55, the trail starts climbing back up, turning up the hillside onto a narrower, shelf-like section that could be easy to miss but is well-marked. This section contains more loose rock, along with a couple of tight, somewhat steep hairpin corners. As the trail ascends to higher elevations, it becomes more lush and wooded, with an increasing number of pine trees. Despite a few narrow spots and switchbacks, the trail remains easy overall.
