Trail Overview

BM 42 is a mostly easy route in the Buffalo Mountain Trail System, with a slightly more challenging start due to a steep, rutted descent from BM 19 under the power lines. After the drop, the trail turns left and continues under a tall tree canopy along a wide, smooth path similar to BM 55. Scenic rock walls line the trail, and elevation gain is minimal throughout. Aside from the initial descent, the trail remains beginner-friendly.

The trail is passable, but the large mud hole with several downed trees is still there. We were able to make it through without winching, but a little ran could change that.

Deep water mud and trees down, if you’re alone better have a winch
