Trail Overview

This 0.7-mile trail is a steep and rugged climb from start to finish. Deep ruts--some over a foot deep--form especially after heavy rains, and loose rock covers the steeper sections, making traction a constant challenge. Embedded rock layers create small ledges that, while not tall, are difficult to navigate on such steep grades. Downed logs in the steeper areas and slippery roots add further difficulty. A tight switchback partway up features exposed rock that requires careful tire placement. The trail briefly levels out near the top of the hill before another climb leads to the intersection with Trail 22. This route is best tackled by experienced drivers in capable, well-equipped vehicles.

This is one of my favorite trials here at bear wallow. I will say over time the rock ledge has deteriorated quite a bit since our first time riding here. Going down was no issues for my stockish Rubicon but coming up could be a different story.
