Trail Overview

Vermont Class 4 Road: This is an easy drive through a notch between Little Equinox and Pendock Hill. The trail is sometimes steep, especially on the eastern slope, but includes nothing too technical. The road parallels Skyline Drive, the longest paved toll road in the US for some of the eastern climb/descent, which ascends nearby Equinox Mountain.

A little muddier than the last time I drove here but very manageable. Some ice and snow still also left over from last week.

Great little end of year adventure for my 63 cj5. Trail was wet with about an inch of snow, great trail if you have a vintage 4x4 that you want to enjoy while not pushing it too hard. I went slow through the trail as the snow made seeing the big rocks and other obstacles a little difficult, took about an hour. The culvert pipe towards the end of the trail was no problem for my relatively stock old jeep.

Definitely a 3, creeps into a 4 in some spots. There are rock ledges about a foot high. In the eastern third of this trail there are some very steep grades that are very rocky with some sharp rocks and should be avoided; this is the most challenging part of the trail. Traction control kicked in on steep rocky parts, but there were no tire-lift moments that i noted. This is a fun and interesting trail for stock trucks like mine.

Overall not a difficult trail. We were able to take it in a 2018 Toyota RAV4 with stock ride height and slightly beefier tires. Although I would recommend more ground clearance as there were multiple times we had to stack rocks and 3 wheel it to not bottom out. It was a blast though!

Fairly easy ride. Bone dry with some mud towards the end. I can imagine it would be more difficult with stock AT’s or Highway tires on a stock Jeep. I made it through with zero issues in a stock Mojave on 35” Micky Thompson Baja Boss A/T’s. I do not have a winch.

It rained all day the day before so some mud and puddles but nothing serious.

The trail was fairly dry with a couple spots that had small to medium puddles. We (myself and a Kawasaki 230s) were the only two bikes on the trail and didn't see anyone else.

Pretty awesome back woods trail that was challenging in a couple spots due to washouts. Mainly by the drain pipe about a third of the way through i would say was the worst. Make sure you have good tires and descent ground clearance.

Some steep sections. Very rocky. All the rocks are mostly rooted in the ground and some larger ones are loose. Pick your lines carefully, it is easy to rip up the underside of your vehicle with many rocks jutting up. Several challenging obstacles for my bone stock (highway tires) 4runner. It is a good first trail to try if you are new to off roading. Wouldn’t be fun in a fully built rig.

Pretty Rocky definitely air down. About halfway thru you come to a old washed out drainage pipe and need to stack rocks even with a lot of clearance besides that obstacle the rest is just high clearance 4x4 needed fun and challenging for new off-roaders

A few sections with more than 12” drop off from large rocks. One uphill section with large loose rocks. Challenging but doable.
