Trail Overview
VCA Mine Road is a 1.7-mile point-to-point trail rated 2 of 10 located in Piute County. This Class B graded dirt road running through BLM managed land is maintained by the county. The road is generally wide enough for two-way traffic and consisted of hard packed dirt. The south end of the road intersects with Iron Cap and Monroe Mountain Roads and leads south to Marysvale. This area is known as the Prospector-Freedom Mining District. The north end of the county road ends at the Freedom Mine #2 and Potts Fraction Mine. There are several other named mines along the north side of the road prior to reaching the end. These include the Glenny Culter Mine, Mineral Hills Claim and Prospector Mine. All of the mines in this area were mining for Uranium and generally operated between 1949 and 1969. As recently as 2026 a Canadian energy corporation has acquired 100% interest in the mines with the intent to reopen as research has found additional deposits in the area. Cell phone service is intermittent along the trail. The nearest services are in Marysvale.
