Trail Overview
Non-Resident OHV permits apply to ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. Plated street-legal vehicles typically do not need one on legal motorized routes. This route branches off Salt Valley-Yellow Cat and provides quick access to several dispersed camping areas that are easy to reach in dry conditions. The first portion of the road is relatively simple and suitable for a wide range of vehicles, including many 2WD Sprinter vans, 2WD trucks, and trucks towing small campers. Because of the easy access and open space, it can be a convenient option for travelers looking for a fast camp setup without tackling difficult terrain. Further in, the route becomes rougher with several washouts, including two larger erosion cuts that require more caution. This road once continued through to Salt Valley Gorge, but ongoing erosion has made the route impassable farther ahead. Around 1.3 miles in, most travelers should plan to turn around.

Difficulty
The beginning of this route is simple and accessible to many 2WD vehicles in dry conditions, making it a good option for dispersed camping access. The main obstacles are several washouts farther in, including two larger erosion cuts, and the eventual turnaround, where the route becomes impassable due to erosion. In dry weather, most drivers with basic ground clearance should have little trouble on the early sections. When wet, the dirt surface can become extremely slick and muddy, significantly increasing difficulty and the chance of getting stuck.
History
This road once provided a through route toward Salt Valley Gorge, but erosion over time has damaged sections and ended full access. Like many roads in this region, it reflects how weather and runoff can continually reshape desert travel routes.
