Trail Overview
Terrys is one of the harder single tracks in the Sovereign Trail System due to tricky exposed switchbacks and several rock-ledge obstacles. It's a really fun challenge because it has many unique desert features. Going west to east, it starts on slab slickrock on top of the mesa. There are blue paint markings on the slab to help follow the trail. It goes through a rock pinch between giant boulders, then has a slickrock rocky downhill with a bit of exposure around the corner and slab ledges up to several feet high. It goes through a rocky wash canyon with scenic rock walls, going up slab rock ledges. There are a couple of really tight hairpin turns in the wash that get you up to the next layer of rock above the wash and the rim of the wash. They are tight turns into a slab rock ledge that are pretty technical and tricky. Later you ride underneath a cool rock tunnel and under giant boulders. It crosses the wash and has a loose climb out of the wash. Overall this one is challenging, but a unique ride. If you are trying to connect the Salt Wash/Sovereign loop with the Cedar Mountain Loop, you can take this trail, or you can avoid this trail by taking the Sovereign Jeep Trail which is just north of this trail. Halfway through Terrys there is a 3-way intersection that allows for an easy bail-out south to 142 Road and Dalton Wells Road. The bail-out is an easier section of trail over dirt and slab.
