Salt Valley - Yellow Cat

The description of this Trail is confusing, it is basically a flat road, two vehicles wide, half of it is gravel and grated and the other half is Sandy or dirt. There is no need for high clearance on this Trail. Yes, if you go on other trails along it you may need that, but it's misleading to claim that this needs high clearance. Wind dry two-wheel drive is fine. There are some wet spots when it's wet. It is mostly a rating 1 Trail. Couple spots may bring it up to a rating 2. What other comments. Another Trail report noted that they believe this Trail was longer than 10 MI more like 18. If you look at the map, it is only 10 MI. 1:44 to the end of the trail is 10 miles. That you continue on to Matt Archer's National Park, it is further but that is another Trail. My trail is called Arches to salt Valley Road.

Aside from a short stretch of sand, a 2wd sedan could do it no problem.

**Advise** This road/trail is longer than the described 10 miles. I started from inside Arches National Park and continued through until reaching Valley City Rd (BLM 144). I clocked just slightly over 18 miles. Road may be taken from either direction. This is a nice backcountry route that helps to avoid some of the traffic of Arches. It's your basic gravel road with some washboarding and soft sandy areas. Nothing to be overly concerned about. However, I would avoid if raining or has rained recently.

Pretty heavy washboard in sections and also some deep sand here and there - momentum is your friend. Otherwise just a dirt road, more or less. There is one severely washed out spot about halfway in, but BLM (or someone else) made a bypass. Still, watch out because if you’re moving quick you might not see it.
