Trail Overview
McKee Ridge - FS 10254 is an easy out-and-back route in the Ashley National Forest, rated 2/10. It serves as the access point to the Limber Flag Yurt on McKee Ridge. The road is a single lane with a mix of dirt and rocks. Recently, both sides of the trail were clear-cut for road construction, improving future access to the rental yurt. Road upgrades and a yurt replacement are planned for completion in fall 2026. For now, it’s little more than a rough, bulldozed track, though plenty of wildlife can be spotted along the way.
History
There was a planned fuel treatment in May 2025. There is residual wood on the road up to the yurt at this time. This is in preparation for the road to be reconstructed and improved, along with creating a fire break near the yurt. The yurt is supposed to be replaced in the fall of 2026. In preparation for that, the road is being prepped for that work this 2026 season.
