Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 30602 is a brief, highly scenic 0.5-mile spur trail that travels comfortably along the crest of a high-elevation ridge. The path presents as a straightforward, vibrant red-dirt two-track that winds effortlessly through open, grassy meadows dotted with sagebrush before approaching denser clusters of towering evergreen pines. The vivid soil contrasts beautifully against the expansive, sweeping blue skies above. The primary utility of this short track is providing access to a remote meteorological weather station situated along the ridge. Additionally, the route harbors a couple of exceptional, flat, dispersed campsites. From this elevated vantage point, campers are treated to world-class, unobstructed panoramic views looking directly toward the southern end of Bryce Canyon National Park, with the vast, dramatic expanse of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument stretching majestically into the distant horizon. The trail ultimately concludes at a serene forest intersection surrounded by thick timber.
