Trail Overview

The Danish Meadows Trail is a scenic, moderately challenging 12.5-mile route connecting Mill Meadow Reservoir and Forsyth Reservoir that is perfect for four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and ATVs looking to explore the beautiful highlands of the Fishlake National Forest. Beginning near Mill Meadow Reservoir, the trail climbs through a diverse landscape of sagebrush flats, thick stands of quaking aspens, and towering pine trees. While the initial stretches are relatively easy and well-graded, the terrain progressively worsens and becomes increasingly rough and rocky as you approach the alpine meadows. Drivers should expect to navigate several rough patches of embedded and loose rock, where stock vehicles without a lift or skid plates are highly likely to bottom out. Reaching a maximum elevation of 9,348 feet, the trail offers impressive views of the surrounding peaks, including nearby Geyser Peak and Solomon Point. The route requires careful tire placement and a capable high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle, ATV, or SxS to safely handle the technical rating of 5. As the trail winds its way north and loops back down to end near Forsyth Reservoir, it provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and access to dispersed camping spots. This trail is typically accessible from late spring through fall, depending on snowpack, making it a fantastic high-altitude escape for offroaders seeking a mix of moderate technical driving and stunning Utah mountain scenery.
