Trail Overview

For those who take the road less traveled, this is the one to the Black Mountain Tower site. This is a great challenge for SXS, motorcycle, ATV, and modified 4x4(not stock for sure). The trail will connect with the Black Mountain Tower site road, which you can go up and have a break with a view. It is a very bumpy, rocky, steep in many areas trail which you'll be in 4LO till you connect back up with the main road to the towers.

Trail dry and rocky, uneven loose climbs. I made it in my lifted XJ without lockers up every climb, but a few just barely. Heading north on the trail, made it just north of the BLM boundary before running out of time for this trip. I turned around at that point and bailed out by heading west just south of the BLM boundary for the main, and faster, Black Mountain Road. So I can't comment on anything on Alternate north of the BLM boundary. From the part I did do - bring a lift and good tires that can stand up to sharp rocks everywhere. Bring lockers unless you know how to use your brake+throttle for torque, or just more speed up the hill than your passengers prefer.

Lockers were definitely needed for two steep, rocky climbs. Not a bad trail, decent camping area near the top.
