Trail Overview
This trail runs up and over the Newfoundland Mountains, a remote mountain range in the middle of the Great Salt Lake Desert. It is the southernmost point to cross over the range since the southern tip of the mountain range is closed for the military. It can make a great spot to turn your trip to the Newfoundlands into a loop. Much of the trail is a reasonably easy dirt road; however, a few steep and narrow sections are near the top of the pass. On the eastern side of the pass, the trail briefly splits in two. We went with the northernmost route down, which this route follows (the other option is just to the south). This trail is fun if you are looking for a little more challenge and has excellent views overlooking the Salt Flats. This area is very remote with sparse cell service, so be prepared for emergencies and travel with a buddy.

Difficulty
Majority of the trail is not too difficult, but there are a few narrow and steep areas near the top of the pass, along with loose rock surfaces.
