Trail Overview

This is a well-traveled two-track with all types of 4x4 and off-road machines. This trail is a great way to overlook the Tooele Valley above Stansbury Park and Erda. You will encounter some large rocks and rutted roads along the way to the top. There is a gate at the end where motorized travel is prohibited. You can hike or ride a horse to the top of the canyon if you want to complete the entire trail. This is one of the main trails in the Bates Canyon Trailhead network. It is a 3-4 difficulty depending on your mode of transportation. There are some steep parts with big ruts and boulders. This is really enjoyable on a SxS or Dirt Bike.

Difficulty

There is nothing too aggressive on this trail, but if there is any weather, you could have some difficulty on the ruts and steep grades.

Saw a few other dirt bikes. I attempted this as a new adventure bike rider on an adv bike over 500 pounds. Not recommended for new adventure riders with heavy bikes esp if nervous about keeping momentum up tons of slippery rocks uphill that the drive tire gets stuck on. Dropped the bike way too many times on a hot day. Exhausting.
