Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 793 is a straightforward out-and-back trail located within the scenic stretches of Sumter National Forest, just beyond the Georgia/South Carolina line. The route follows an easy, mostly single-lane gravel road with no notable obstacles, making it accessible to nearly any vehicle, including standard passenger cars in normal conditions. Along the way, travelers can enjoy a peaceful setting surrounded by forest, natural terrain, and minimal development. The area feels quiet and remote, with very little traffic, making it ideal for a relaxed drive, light exploration, or simply getting away from busier roads. At the end of the trail, there is a large open turnaround area that allows for easy maneuvering and may also serve as a dispersed camping spot. Due to the remote nature of the road, cell phone service can be unreliable or unavailable, so it’s important to plan ahead and bring any necessary supplies, navigation tools, and emergency essentials before heading out.
