Trail Overview

Treaster Kettle Road is a typical graded gravel road within Rothrock State Forest. The trail is an in and out trail, with the trailhead off highway 604 and run into Treasure Kettle Trail. A side trail is Thickhead Road at the exit of Treaster Kettle Road. There are two hiking trails, the Bailout Trail and the Rattlesnake Canyon Trail. The trail runs parallel to a rapidly flowing brook and has an abundance of thick pines and big timber for plenty of cover and nutrition for wildlife. The is some hunting cabins set off from this trail. The trail is easily traversed in the warmer months and would be more difficult in winter due to snow and ice.

History

The trail provides Access to the remote Treaster Valley and lies near the Treaster Kettle farm. The farm produces maple syrup and honey. The region was affected by the 19th-century deforestation that led to the creation of Rothrock State Forest conservation measures.
