Trail Overview

This scenic single-lane forest road meanders alongside a peaceful mountain stream through the heart of (Bedford County) Buchanan State Forest. Towering hardwoods provide a shaded canopy as the route follows the natural contours of the valley, offering a relaxing drive with beautiful woodland scenery. This is a local timber management or forest district. At the beginning of the trail, you’ll pass the remains of an old house structure on the right—a reminder of the area’s rich history and the families who once called this forest home. Numerous primitive hiking trails branch off throughout the route, providing opportunities to explore deeper into the forest, discover quiet creekside views, and experience the solitude of Pennsylvania’s backcountry.
