Trail Overview

Long Winding Forestry Road with steep climbs on the Montage Tract of the Pinchot State Forest. The road will not be plowed in winter. Steep hill sections will be slippery, and the lower section of the trail grows increasingly washed out every year. Downed trees may also be encountered. The lower section passes through private property, but the road is legal. Street-licensed vehicles only.

The trail was pretty rutted due to storms this week. When you come to the T intersection, I would go left. I went right and there is a really steep hill with decent sized boulders in the middle. Decent sized puddles throughout, but nothing you will get stuck in. I aired down to 20psi 1/4 way through due to the rocks and ruts. Made it a lot smoother of a ride.

Only did the hill descent and climb which becomes increasingly washed out with more exposed rocks also there were quite alot of loose medium sized rocks scattered about. Shouldn't have any issues with a 4x4 with decent clearance, proper line choosing, and 30"+ tires. Overall very fun trail.

Easily done by any 4x4, or vehicle on 30"+ tires. Awesome time as usual. The winter rutted the trail in some spots, adding a bit of fun. There was running shallow water on so e of the trail. Definitely fun.

The lower portion headed to Ore Mine Rd poised some issues on the climb but with the right lines it was doable. Pushed the limitation of the AWD system in some cases but transfer case temperatures stayed low and we moved on.

Came in from 307, the first road was very chill, saw about 4 other trucks. Montage road has 2 steep parts. The one down to ore road is rocky, nothing crazy, used 4 low.

Nice easy trail. We only saw a group of hikers, and one other vehicle. Everyone was very friendly.
