Trail Overview
This easy dirt and packed gravel road winds through the forest, offering a smooth and scenic drive. The trail crosses several equestrian paths, so be sure to observe the 25 mph state forest speed limit and drive cautiously. Along the way, you’ll pass Elmer’s Springs primitive site. There are multiple free dispersed camping options throughout the forest.
For part of the route, the road climbs along a ridgeline, giving you filtered views down into a dense forest valley below and out across the surrounding hills. The trail remains wide and easy to navigate with open vegetation along the corridor. On the west side, there is a large staging area that provides convenient access to the area.
Difficulty
This trail is rated 1/10 due to the smooth, well-packed gravel and dirt surface with no significant obstacles. It is suitable for nearly any vehicle, with the main consideration being shared use with horseback riders rather than terrain difficulty.
