Trail Overview

This seasonal road grants access to Sonyea State Forest. The road is not maintained during the winter months and is in rough shape during the summer and muddy in the spring. Sonyea State Forest offers camping by permit and access to hiking trails. During the Spring, the DEC does prescribed burns on the fields for habitat improvement and may be shut down at those times.

This road may have deep snow banks and drifting during the winter months. There are deep ruts and potholes.

The trail great, only one spot was slightly muddy. The rest of the trail was in good condition. There are some sizable potholes but most can be avoided. We stopped at the parking area towards the middle to explore the trail nearby. There are some pull off locations and camping spots along the trail.
