Trail Overview

The forest access road starts out as a steep uphill featuring crushed stone to prevent repeated washouts. After you top the hill the trail becomes a mix of gravel, crushed stone, and ultimately dirt. Trail conditions deteriorate the further into the woods you go where you will encounter washouts with wood debris tossed in to make a couple run off creek crossings. Beware large loose rocks in those same sections towards the end of the trail.

Difficulty

As you get towards the end of the trail it becomes pretty treacherous if your rig is not high clearance. Washouts and large boulders in the trail made it necessary for me to have a spotter to safely get through certain portions. Ultimately we turned around due to a large tree across the trail further up. Be on the constant lookout for places to turn around as the trail gets rougher and tighter the further you go.

History

As you begin traversing this trail you will see one of the original homes on this hill. It's worth stopping and looking but keep in mind the house is on private property so do not trespass. You then follow the old wagon trail from what used to be pasture land in the late 1800s.

When up the northern part of the Boody Hill Trail. The trail doesn't start getting difficult until after the sharp left turn. It's a rocky down hill with some mud and puddles, dependent on rain. At the bottom there is a downed tree, but you can get around it to the left if you are careful. Beyond the tree is a very large washout, not passable without very large tires and lift. there is a way to get back on the trail on the other side, but do this at your own risk. Many large rocks, deep sandy mud, and steep inclines. I ended up getting stuck in the mud on the way back toward the washout in 4Lo and rear locker.

Snow covered so I knew I was the first one through. Wasn’t bad though just wet slushy snow. Four low required. Was an absolutely beautiful drive through the woods. Will definitely be back in the summertime.
