Trail Overview

This 2.5-mile out-and-back trail begins from Leviathan Road and offers a quick but rugged climb. The route gains over 450 feet in under a mile before dropping about 130 feet to its end high above Poison Creek, where wide views open across the valley below. The track is one vehicle wide, made of dirt with small embedded rocks. Water ruts appear along the way, and the trail becomes progressively rockier as you climb. Low-hanging pine branches may brush taller vehicles, and several open meadows break up the forested sections. A shallow water crossing and a few small water holes add to the challenge. Dispersed camping is available in spots along the trail. Wildlife is present, and signs of black bear are common, so plan accordingly. On the return, you’ll catch views of the Leviathan Mine in the distance.
