Trail Overview
Exchange (FS 4101) is a gravel and dirt forest service road within the Mark Twain National Forest, Doniphan / Eleven Point Unit. Exchange starts on the north shoulder of US-60 heading east-northeast into the woods, first climbing up the right-of-way embankment along the highway to meet the FS ID marker on top of that short hill, from which the track seems to go slowly downhill, crossing mild washes, with an abundance of pinstriping thorns along the edges of the track, passing a few small openings, to the medium sized opening at the conclusion of the MVUM sanctioned path, here users must turn around and head back out in the way they came.
Difficulty
Exchange is given a 1/10 base rating for being a gravel road going down a mild-graded hill, with very mild washes, but the unsung difficulty is in the pinstriping thorns on the edge of the trail; there is a lot of that going on. The road could become more difficult in times of inclement weather or wet conditions, or through heavy use and a lack of maintenance, though the road shows signs of being repaired at some point in its past. Due to the tightened path with the thorns on the sides, this is not recommended for full-size vehicles.
