Trail Overview

Cyclone Road starts at Big Sugar Creek and County Road SE E59 or Creekside Road at Creekside Campground. This follows the shuttle route if you're floating Big Sugar Creek to Cyclone. Warning: the floating takeout at Cyclone can be very dangerous and only experienced paddlers should float this section of Big Sugar Creek. The road is mostly loose gravel and hardpacked dirt that follows the bluffs of Big Sugar Creek with a few climbs that allow views of the river below in the wintertime and spring. There are a couple of water crossings along this route; one has a gauge depth reference with constant flowing water.

Pretty easy however it had just snowed and there was two or three spots that were kind of slick, one spot in particular that if it had been any worse I probably wouldn’t recommend it on the account it was about a 50 ft drop on the other side of the trail.. snow only lasted a day though and it should be clear today. (I’ll also note that in the photos the roads were clear but closer to the top of the hill they were not so don’t let the photos fool you)

I went though this "trail" at about 45-50 mph only saw one other person and it was a mini van don't get me wrong it was fun to be out of the city and there a really pretty pull off/bridges through out the drive if you have a capable off road vehicle i highly recommend taking some of the other off shoots aswell
